Autumn at Bago

With misty mornings, leaves falling from the trees, the air is crisp, the warm golden colours are vibrant, and the ambience is picturesque. At Bago, Autumn is not just a season, it’s a true beauty of nature which calls for a red wine.

As the season changes and the vineyards prepare for their dormant period, the vines gently shed their leaves, holding onto the last bits of energy before winter sets in. This quiet time allows us to focus on farm tasks.

DEDICATION AND CARE FOR THE LAND

Debbie has been slashing the overgrown pastures for the cattle so they have fresh grass, providing a boost of food. Jim has been repairing fences and working on a new Tawny blend - stay tuunned! and Ian has been working on trimming the gardens and hedges bringing the serenity to life. Ian has also been planting in our garden expansion areas and making plans for winter landscaping projects!

Work on the farm doesn’t always go to plan and some days are long and tiring however with a love for what we do, our team efforts paint a picture of dedication and care for the land. While the vineyards rest, our cellar door ramps up, welcoming visitors to experience the magic of autumn and our red wines.

WARMING UP WITH BAGO’S REDS

Each wine comes to life through the lens of nature, with native birds and flora capturing the essence of Bago.

CHAMBOURCIN

Chambourcin is the signature variety of Bago Vineyards. This wine portrays ripe plum and berry fruit aromas, with a touch of spice. Oak maturation is dominant and with time it integrates well into the wine giving it a smooth, rounded feel whilst maintaining fresh fruit flavours.

Our Chambourcin may be consumed young, however, will cellar well for 10 years+. Well suited to lamb or pork dishes. (Pronounced Shom-bor-son).

ROSELLA RED

Our Rosella Red is a Sangria style, a deep nectarous red wine with a hint of spice on the tongue, soft tannins and undertones of sweet stone fruits. Ready to drink now and pairs well with middle spiced dishes.

OLD LOGGERS TAWNY PORT

Old Loggers Tawny is a barrel aged traditional fortified red made from our Chambourcin and Tannat grapes. Bago’s Tawny is always a blend of older and recent fortifieds with the average age exceeding 10 years.

NORTON BLUE

Our Norton Blue is a light red wine with hints of violets on the nose, soft tannins and a hint of clove spice. This Beaujolais style is exclusive in Australia, making you the favourite dinner party guest. PS. Norton and Pizza is a vibe!
